When a pocketbook manufacturing company burned down in 1911, many residents of West Bend, Wisconsin were out of work. Young Bernhard C. Ziegler, a local entrepreneurial dynamo, set out to find a substitute industry for the townspeople. He recruited six other men who, along with himself, each put down $1,000 to incorporate the West Bend Aluminum Company on September 27, 1911.

So far, so good with this slow cooker. It is our first slow cooker and we use it at least once a week. The timer and cook setting are easy to use, yet effective, and durability seems to be top quality. We are very happy with the purchase!
